Game ON Evening

On Saturday February 28th 2008 we will come together as one Netball and Basketball to host the “Game ON” Evening.

What is “Game ON”? Its an evening to get your game on. Not just Netball or Basketball but you can showcase your skills in any game you want.
Dominoes, football, cricket or ice skating you can game however you want. We just ask that you submit your suggestions to myself for review by the Activities Committee.

We will be inviting some of the other clubs to also get their “Game ON”. However feel free to invited your friends to come out and get their “Game ON”!

Food and non alcoholic beverages will be on sale to aid with the 2009 Seasons.

Why? Why?

It is so hard to commit yourselves to any thing that is positive? Persons who commit themselves are very tired with the others who do not display same . An organisation can only progress if it’s staff/worker/member produce.This must start with the leaders and they must display these qualities and it will filter to one and all.Guys if really like the organisation we take part in  netball/basketball we must do a better job as we are aiming for excellence in what is our task.

Please note that all members must paid up all subs in full to the end of July2008 to vote or run for any position on the committee.You may contact the ‘treasurer for your arrears in subs.

Arawak Cement Braves Pot Bubbles Over

The Jun-B Clarke division team won back-to-back games over the weekend to secure a final placing of 3rd from among a field of nine teams.

On Friday 6th June 2008 the team defeated Unity Stars 31 – 18. The Captain Shanice Hinds scored 22 goals from 37 attempts and was ably assisted by Shaniqua Thomas who scored 7 goals from 9 attempts and Neesha Broomes who scored 2 goals from 4 attempts.

Then on Saturday 7th, the “Braves girls” whipped Pine Hill St Barnabas 30 – 8. Again Captain Shanice Hinds scored more than half of the score with 19 goals from 31 attempts, Shaniqua Thomas scored 7 goals from 8 attempts and Neesha Broomes scored 4 goals from 10 attempts.

Special mention of all the teams members Vice-captain Nyasha Frederick- Centre/ Goal Defence/ Goal Keeper, Shalicia Boyce- Goal Defence/ Goal Keeper, Ryanna Gilkes- Wing Attack/Centre, Denelle Bryant- Wing Defence, Shakeel Jordan- Goal Keeper/ Wing Defence/Centre, Danielle Prescod-Goal Keeper, Ashelle Bryan- Goal keeper/Wing Defence, Shadia Clarke- Centre, Cherie Belgrave- Wing Defence.

Well Done Girls!! We are very proud of you.

Braves Senior Netball Team Plays 2nd Friendly Game Against Braves Basketballers

The senior netball team had their second friendly match against the basketballers and what an exciting match it was. The guys managed to hold off again the girls one more time and come away with the win.

These matches are part of an effort to assist in club development and also is very important to the girls preparation for their knockout game on the 21st June 2008. The girls are a quest to bring home the gold after placing second in their division in the Barbados Netball Association season 2008.

NetBall Games played Week ended 31st May 2008

Both the Senior and Junior teams had victories this week.

The Int-5 team played on Wednesday 28th and defeated Structural Systems Silver Raiders 37 – 19. Goal Shooter Monique James scored 31 of 41 attempts while Goal Attack Lisa Bannister chipped in 6 of 7 attempts. This completes the league games for the senior team having posted 7 wins and 2 losses we finish with 37 points and remain in second position in the division.

The Jun-B team had a hard fought and well deserved victory on Saturday when they defeated Susan’s Bar Christ Church United 23 – 22. Goal Shooter Shanice Hinds finished with 18 goals from 24 attempts while Neesha Broomes contributed 5 goals from 11 attempts.

Braves Netball Update 2008 Season

The 2008 Barbados Netball Association league season is well on the way and the “Braves Girls” are well on the way to promotion. With only one game left in the league we are positioned in second place and there is no stopping us.

Come out and support us next Wednesday 28th May at 7:00pm, venue the Netball Stadium in Waterford. We face-off against Structural Systems Silver Raiders and these girls will face the same result as most of the teams in our division. The senior girls play in Intermediate 5 Linda Paul division with 9 other teams. To date we have played eight games, winning six and losing only two games by a margin of three goals in each game.

Meanwhile our junior team which plays in the Junior B – Denis Clarke division is also doing pretty well. There are 9 teams in this division and the girls have played five games so far, winning three and losing only two. If the girls continue on their winnning ways they could also be making a run for promotion.

The Jun B team play their next game on Saturday 31st May at 5:30pm in the Netball Stadium against Susan’s Bar & Restaurant Christ Church. Coincidentially this club’s Int 5 team is one of the games which the senior loss, so this may be a case of sweet revenge.
