THIS CELL WAS FOUND IN A CANEFIELD. IT WAS LEFT WHEN THE WATCHMAN RAN THE INTRUDERS, ONE OF THE INTRUDERS SAID ‘DONT RUN MEN.’ BUT HE WAS THE FIRST TO CLEAR THE CART ROAD.  SHANE IS THIS YOUR CELL PHONE?

A GUYANESE CAUGHT IN CANE FIELD TALKS PURE BAJAN

It has been drawn to my attention that some members of the young bball team went to illegally extract sugar cane from a sugar estate somewhere in Barbados. Being quite aware that they were trespassing on private property they made their way quietly and out of the view of any possible owners or watchmen. Well so they thought. They selected an area where the canes were bursting with juice and ready for harvest then without the consent of the owners or the go ahead of the management of the plantation proceeded to noisily harvest the produce.

So intense were their concentration on their illegal activity that they fail to notice the watchman, moving slowly and conceal like a navy seal through the canes to the area of chatter and crackling in his cane field. Just about the time the watchman was about to make his presence known one of the trespassers made a cell phone call to a buddy telling him that he was at this moment in the cane field brekin some real juicy cane.  He went on to invite his friend to join him in the field as the watchman was somewhere drunk.

At this invitation watchman made his presence known to the trespassers who turned and run to the nearest exits. One of the fleeing illegal intruders pl ayes as a big man for Braves he was the first to move followed closely by his buddy who plays 2 for the team. Unfortunately the third illegal intruder was not a bajan and he took off too closely followed by the Alto bolt speed like watchman.  After running round in circles for about 20mins he finally stop to face his determined pursuer.

He had not realized that the watchman had armed himself with two bajan grenades (two big rocks) but when he did he shouted ‘hey man. wha you gine do wid them’ to which the watchman replied ‘ if you let me get close enough you will know’.  Well,  he did not grant the watchman his wish.  He saw the path that his buddies had made during their quick exit from the canefield and made it his exit also. 

When he reached a safe area some distance from the crime scene he spotted his buddies relating the story to some of their friends. As he aproached the group one of his partners in crime asked him. ” you see my cell phone? I like I left it in the canefield.”

THE NETBALL INHOUSE CHALLENGE 2009

   2009 is the year of the ladies, men. Sorry the game is ours this year.

Who will win the challenge this year.  The ladies seem to be very confident that they will win this year.  Well I suppose this is the year of dreams.  I remember a game years back where a shooter from the girls team verbally abused a member of the men’s team after the ladies had suffered another heavy lost.  So intense are these battles.

In the game in 2008 the the younger boys from the under 21 bball team performed well  with the senior men against the senior netball team.  Demario played a good goal shoot, Andi hand his hands full at goal keeper trying to stop Monique James while Chadd helped Demario with the shooting and Bovell operated on wing defence. 

 Now there is a new challenge on the horizon.  The Junior netball girls vs the Under 21 juniors boys bball team.  This is going to be hot hot hot. I believe the boys will get wash in licks in this league but you never know with these boys.  They however are looking to win this game by over 25 points.  Talking bout dreaming.  The young girls on the other hand are quietly confident that they would come out on top.  WHO WILL STOP BUBBLES WHEN THE POT BEGIN TO BUBBLE.  Don’T ask me ask Demario.

2008 under 21 Captain

This youngster played under 21 and 3rd division basketball in the BABA domestic season last year and did exceptionally well for the club / team.He is a very promising player for the future of the club.His name is Damain and he is none as ‘ damie ‘ to the guys.

Braves “Game ON” Evening – Feb 28 2008

Game ON Evening

On Saturday February 28th 2008 we will come together as one Netball and Basketball to host the “Game ON” Evening.

What is “Game ON”? Its an evening to get your game on. Not just Netball or Basketball but you can showcase your skills in any game you want.
Dominoes, football, cricket or ice skating you can game however you want. We just ask that you submit your suggestions to myself for review by the Activities Committee.

IF YOU like IT THEN PUT A RING ON IT

These girls seem to be saying  these words to the popular Beyonce hit song.  Not so.  These young ladies, as cute as they may look,  are  very fierce competitors.  All decked in their blue, white and yellow uniforms always well press they execute their game plans with ruthless and lethal precision.  It is hard to believe that i saw some of these girls when they were babies.  The hard work put in by Lisa and Monique is certainly paying off. I expect great things from these girls in the future.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JUNIOR EXECUTIVE ELECT DEMARIO.

Assistant Secretary/Treasurer

Demario is now the elected assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the Checker Hall Braves Sports & Social Club.  He will be the deputy to Andi Daniel and Shane Worrell.  It is really good to see a youngster accepting such responsibility. I have no doubt that Demario will be a success despite his tender age.  This should assist him in his maturing process and should enhance his appreciation of the roles other persons perform who people take for granted. e.g  Adrian Brome, Coach and Shane Worrell. One other interesting observation is that with the interest exhibited by Demario there since to be a corresponding interest shown by the younger members of the netball team. Why?  All that can be said now is that an investigation is on going.  Good work Demario when you decide to take charge you will be awesome. YOUR FIRST TASK WILL BE TO PUT THIS COACH ON THE BENCH TO WATCH.  LOL LOL

Andi Daniel was recently elected the Secretary of Checker Hall Sports & Social Club at a special general meeting held on the 24 Feb. at the Checker Hall community center.  He joined the club in Jan 2008 and is a member of both the junior and senior basketball teams. He acted in this post for a short period after the former Secretary resigned. He has as his assistant another member of the youth team 17 year old Demario Prescod.

Andi is one of those members who gets involved in all activities held by the club. He is currently in his second year at the U W I CAVE  HILL CAMPUS and from all reports doing well.  It is very pleasing to see the younger members getting involved in a different area of club life. If the commitment and discipline seen from Andi is anything to go by then I know that he will be a success in this position.   ONWARD EVER UPWARD.

                                                                                                                                                                                                 

DARREN RETURNS TO UNDER 21 TRIALS.

Promising young basketballer from  checker hall Darren Small is back in training. He was a member of the under 21 team last year but withdrew because of injury. He looks more confident and aggressive and if he remains fit should be a big asset to the team now that Chadd Greaves and Damian Bovell are unable to play.

He is now a student of the Barbados Community College and could be looking forward to make their team this year. A good performance in under 21 would give him the confidence and the exposure to command a play in that team which is coached by Mr Terry Inniss. He seem to be doing well at his studies and i will urge him to continue to do so.

I am looking forward to his commitment to the team and to having a full run with the team in the under 21 season. Good luck buddy.
